Skill Requirements:


Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training


Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Not required


Experience: 5 years or more


Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English


Work Setting: Commercial dental laboratory


Area of Technical Expertise: Plastering, Packing, Set-up, Waxing-up, Casting, Polishing


Area of Specialization: Crowns and bridges, Ceramic or porcelain application, Gold dies and goldwork


Dental technologist and Technician Specific Skills: Fabricate dental devices, Repair dental devices


Laboratory Bench Worker Specific Skills: Prepare plaster models and moulds, Cast gold or metal alloys for bridges and denture bases, Polish and buff dentures


Additional Skills: Train and supervise other dental technicians or dental laboratory bench workers


Security and Safety: Basic security clearance


Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Tight deadlines, Repetitive tasks, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Sitting, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Standing for extended periods
